PENGARUH MEDIA CROSSWORD PUZZLE TERHADAP PENGUASAAN KOSAKATA BAHASA ARAB SISWA KELAS 2 SD IT AL MUBAROK

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of using crossword puzzles on the Arabic vocabulary mastery of second-grade students at SD IT Al Mubarok. This study was motivated by students’ low ability to memorize and understand Arabic vocabulary, as the learning process still relies on monotonous rote memorization methods. Consequently, students tend to be less active, easily become bored, and lack concentration during learning activities. This study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 24 second-grade students at SD IT Al Mubarok. Data were collected through tests, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics, including tests of normality, homogeneity, and a paired-sample t-test. The results of the study show an increase in students’ average scores from 62 on the pretest to 84 on the posttest. The results of the hypothesis test yielded a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05, with a calculated t-value of 8.947, which is greater than the critical t-value of 2.07. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the use of crossword puzzles has a significant impact on students’ mastery of Arabic vocabulary. In addition to improving learning outcomes, this method also enhances students’ engagement, focus, and enthusiasm throughout the learning process.
