In the beginning, addition of mathematics learning was taught never to use learning media from the media used. This resulted in several obstacles that were found when learning mathematics addition material took place. From some of these obstacles, the most significant obstacles were the unsatisfactory student learning outcomes (most students scored 60 and below) and the students took too long to work on the questions given by the teacher. Responding to these problems, it is necessary to use more appropriate media.
Snake and Ladder Media is a learning medium that can be used to attract students' interest in learning mathematics. In addition, snakes and ladders are also used to facilitate students in counting numbers. With increased student interest in learning mathematics, addition material is expected to be able to improve student learning outcomes in this learning.
This research is based on the formulation of the problem (a) How to plan for the improvement of learning outcomes in addition to using snakes and ladders, (b) How to increase the results of learning mathematics addition using snake and ladder media, (c) How to evaluate the increase in learning outcomes of learning mathematics by using the media snake and ladder in class I Adam MI Perwanida Blitar.
This study used a qualitative approach to the type of field research and the research design was Classroom Action Research. This research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of: action planning, implementation, observation or observation, and reflection. While the focus of this research is the addition of class I mathematics learning outcomes of Adam MI Perwanida Blitar.
Adhere to the formulation of the problems mentioned above. So to start this research, the researcher first observed the characteristics of the first grade students and the previous addition of math learning outcomes through interviews with field teachers, then the researcher made a learning implementation plan (RPP) using snake and ladder media. Then the implementation of increasing the addition of mathematics learning outcomes in grade I students was carried out in accordance with the planning that had been arranged in the lesson plan, even though it encountered various obstacles.
Then from the results of the evaluation, it was obtained data that there was an increase in the results of learning mathematics addition in class I students of Adam MI Perwanida Blitar from II cycles that had been carried out and could meet the predetermined performance indicators. The performance indicator in this study is the minimum completeness standard for each student is 70 with grade learning completeness 75%. The details of the increase in the addition of mathematics learning outcomes are: (1) At the time of the pre-test the number of students who scored 61 and above was 74.19% while those who scored 60 and below were 25.80% of the 31 students who attended. (2) In the first cycle, the number of students who scored 61 and above was 83.87%, while those who scored 60 and below were 16.12% of the 31 students who attended. (3) In the second cycle, the number of students who scored 61 and above was 91.88%, while those who scored 60 and below were 8.10% of the 31 students who attended. From the research results it can be concluded that the snake and ladder media can improve the learning outcomes of mathematics addition and in its implementation can run effectively and efficiently. This is evidenced by the increase in student learning outcomes. Therefore, if later there are other learning media that are more effective than the description of this research, then it will become input for the development of the world of education.
